The short answer: DeepSeek gives every website an authority score from 0 to 4, and it leans on higher-rated sites when it answers. Enter your domain below to see your score, a keyword you already rank for, and how your top competitors compare. It takes under a minute.

What the checker shows you

Most "AI visibility" checkers ask a chatbot a handful of questions and count how often your name comes up. That number swings from one run to the next. This checker reads the score DeepSeek itself assigns to your website through its public Search API, so the result is the same every time you look.

You get three things:

  1. Your DeepSeek authority score (0 to 4). The authority field DeepSeek returns for your site, or "not indexed" if its search engine hasn't found you at all.
  2. A sample keyword. A real search term your site ranks for on Google today, with its monthly search volume. If you don't rank for anything yet, you see a keyword your strongest competitor ranks for instead: your first opportunity.
  3. Your competitors' scores. Your three closest competitors, found by AI web search, each with their own DeepSeek authority score. This is the gap you need to close.

Why DeepSeek's authority score is the number to track

DeepSeek is one of the world's most-used AI assistants, and its search engine is now public. Every result it returns carries an authority score, and every page on a domain gets the same score, so it works like a rating for your whole website.

That rating is part of how DeepSeek decides which websites its AI reads before it answers a question. A shopper asking DeepSeek "what's the best tool for X" gets an answer built from the sites DeepSeek trusts most. If you aren't in its index, you can't be in that answer.

Read the research: DeepSeek scores every website from 0 to 4. We tested 87 brands to find the one thing that moves it.

What your score means

We scored 87 websites, from Chobani and Liquid Death down to small food blogs, and measured how many quality backlinks (links from real, established websites) each one had. Here is the typical site at every level:

Median number of quality backlinks for each DeepSeek authority tier across all 87 websites

What it meansTypical quality backlinks
Authority 4Top-tier: government and major institutions10,000+
Authority 3Highly trusted: established national brandsAbout 2,300
Authority 2Trusted: growing brands with real pressAbout 560
Authority 1In the index, low trustAbout 13

Median quality backlinks by DeepSeek authority tier, 87 websites, October 2026.

Three rules held across the data:

  • Nearly every website with 30 or more quality backlinks was in DeepSeek's index. Below 30, about half weren't.
  • No website with fewer than 950 quality backlinks reached authority 3.
  • Each step up took roughly 4 to 40 times more quality backlinks than the step below.

How DeepSeek rank tracking works

Your authority score is a site-wide rating, so it doesn't jump around day to day like a keyword ranking. It moves in steps, when your link profile crosses into the next tier. That changes what good tracking looks like:

  • Check monthly, not daily. A daily chart of a 0 to 4 score is a flat line. A monthly check catches the step when it happens.
  • Track your competitors' scores, not just yours. If a competitor climbs from 2 to 3 while you sit still, DeepSeek now trusts them more than you in every answer about your category.
  • Track the input, not just the output. The number that predicted the score best in our data was quality backlinks. Count them each month and you'll see the next step coming before DeepSeek does.
  • Track the questions too. Your score decides whether DeepSeek reads your site. Your content decides whether it has anything worth quoting when it does. Watch which buyer questions your pages answer.

Run the checker above whenever you want a fresh read. It's free, and the result is cached for a day.

How to rank higher in DeepSeek

  1. Get indexed first. If the checker says "not indexed", your first target is about 30 quality backlinks. In our data that was almost always enough. Brand-new sites and single-page sites with very little text were the only exceptions.
  2. Count quality backlinks, not total backlinks. Most of a typical brand's links come from junk sites that add nothing. In head-to-head comparisons, the site with more quality backlinks had the higher score in 14 of 16 cases, even when the other site had thousands more links overall.
  3. Know your next target. Authority 2 sites typically had about 560 quality backlinks. Authority 3 started at about 1,000.
  4. Earn links steadily. A burst of links from low-quality sites won't move you. Regular links from real websites will.
  5. Publish pages that answer buyer questions. Once DeepSeek trusts your site, give it something to cite: clear answers, real numbers, comparisons and FAQs on the questions your customers actually ask.

Authority checkers vs. prompt-based checkers

Both have a place. Here's the difference:

DeepSeek authority checkerPrompt-based checker
What it measuresDeepSeek's own rating of your websiteHow often a few sample questions mention you
Same result every run
Shows competitors' scoresSometimes
Tells you what to fixYes: quality backlinks, with tier targetsRarely
Shows a real keyword you rank for

Prompt-based checks are useful for seeing a sample of real answers. But five prompts is a small sample, and the result can change if you run it again tomorrow. The authority score is the stable foundation underneath those answers.

Frequently asked questions

Is the DeepSeek visibility checker free?

Yes. Enter your domain and your work email, and you get your authority score, a sample keyword and three competitors' scores, free.

How do I check if DeepSeek knows about my brand?

Use the checker at the top of this page. "Not indexed" means DeepSeek's search engine hasn't found your website, so its AI can't read it when answering questions about your category. Any score from 1 to 4 means you're in the index.

What is a good DeepSeek authority score?

For most growing brands, 2 is a solid target and 3 puts you alongside well-known national brands. In our study, only one website scored 4. No site in any of our searches scored 0, so in practice the scale runs from "not indexed" through 1 to 4.

How often should I track my DeepSeek ranking?

Monthly is enough for the authority score, since it moves in steps. Track your quality backlinks and your competitors' scores at the same time.

Why isn't my website indexed by DeepSeek?

Almost always because too few established websites link to it. In our data, sites with 5 or fewer quality backlinks were usually not indexed, while nearly every site with 30 or more was. Very new sites and pages with almost no text can also be missed.

Does DeepSeek have a search engine?

Yes. DeepSeek offers a public Search API, and every result includes the authority score this checker reads.

How do I rank in DeepSeek?

Get indexed, then climb the authority scale by earning quality backlinks steadily, and publish clear answers to the questions your buyers ask. The step-by-step version is in How to rank higher in DeepSeek above.
